New Microsoft Xbox 'will require Kinect'

The Kinect controller allows players to use physical gestures to control games.

The existence of the new Xbox has not even been confirmed by Microsoft but leaks have emerged
from an industry source who claims to have been briefed on the capabilities of the console.
The new Xbox, codenamed "Durango", will apparently be able to run more than one game at a time, suspending one while a player switches to another and then letting them continue from the same point when they switch back.

The source told games blog Kotaku that the Kinect controller built into the new Xbox will have to be turned on and calibrated for the console to function. The source, known as "SuperDaE", also said the controller for the console has been redesigned.
Kotaku admits that the source's claims are hard to verify but says many of his claims match details that have been leaked by other sources. Many people have to be briefed before a new console can be launched, including staff at the games companies making launch titles.
The new rumours follow reports from last week that claimed the new Xbox would require a constant connection to the internet, which would make it impossible for gamers to use second hand titles with the console.
